Mathematical model of a radar detection and identification system to be used for finding different objects buried in the ground or in other dielectric media is considered. In the suggested model scattering characteristics of 3D resonant objects are calculated by solving 2nd kind Fredholm integral equations for equivalent current densities on the object’s surface. Based on the obtained results we derive a method of detection and identification for specific types of objects which incorporates analysis of their natural resonant frequencies. Potentialities of the developed method for detection and identification of different types of mines are estimated.
