Abstract

An expression is derived for the coherence matrix of partially polarized waves, which contains in the explicit form the polarization parameters of the fully polarized component of the wave. This representation is shown to be efficient for analysis of properties of partially polarized waves and at development of methods for measurement of their parameters. It also helps study the processes of interaction of the wave with devices sensitive to polarization.
