Abstract

Using uniform geometric diffraction theory the solution of the three-dimensional diffraction problem of electric dipole which is placed inside the U-shaped reflector with the dimensions of the sides L and H and height W is obtained. The algorithms and software for calculating the radiation patterns of orthogonal components of the vector of electric field strength for dipoles with different orientation in the whole observation space in the far-field region are developed. On the basis of the calculated electro-dynamic characteristics of the half-wave dipole the influence of the reflector’s dimensions and its distance to the dipole on the radiation patterns, radiation resistance, directivity and front-to-back ratio is analyzed. It is shown that the use of the P-shaped reflector with optimal dimensions allows simultaneously improving all researched characteristics of the antenna.
