Abstract

The potential capabilities of applying the direction-finding (DF) and power method of target passive location based on a single direction-finder have been investigated. Mathematical apparatus was developed for the construction and analysis of the operating space of the method depending on the characteristics of direction-finder and surveillance conditions. The results of numerical experiment are presented that corroborate the conclusions made in the course of analysis of operating space. An estimate of the procedure error caused by an adoption of the main limitation of the specified method was also obtained. Practical recommendations are proposed for using the direction-finding and power method both as the only possible one under the specific operating conditions of the passive system and in combination with the triangulation method for a multiposition system.
